Intruder Alarms

Commercial or Industrial Systems

Chevron Alarms supply, install and maintain intruder alarm systems to BS EN 50131 and PD6662 to protect any type or size of building. We can work to any insurance specification, or using the vast experience of our surveyors, design and install a system to meet all your security requirements.

All of our systems can be linked to the Police via an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), see section below.

Below are some examples of the type of buildings that we protect:

  • Large & Small Office Buildings
  • Factories & Warehouses
  • Sports & Social Clubs
  • Shops & Restaurants
  • Schools & Colleges
  • Car showrooms & Workshops

To ensure high quality and reliability, we will only specify the latest technically advanced equipment. Below is a brief description of some of the components that make up an Intruder Alarm System:

Master control panel

This is the main brain of the system, located in a convenient place. This is usually housed in a blank box that is linked into the mains via a fused spur. This contains the power supply unit and back up battery. This would be fully programmable to suit the user’s requirements with system diagnostics and a customer remote reset facility. We would select the correct master control panel to suit your requirements and a full technical data sheet would be provided.

Remote keypad

Aesthetically pleasing, easy to use design, surface mounted, or can be flush fitting in brass , chrome and range of other finishes. This allows the system to be set and unset via a code number or proximity tag. Usually located in the entrance hall near to the main entrance door. Additional keypads can be installed on the landing or in the master bedroom, for example.

Magnetic alarm contact

These are installed into doors and windows to detect when they have been opened. They are also supplied in a heavy duty form for large industrial doors.

Passive infra red movement detector

This detector is designed to detect the body heat and movement of an intruder moving around the interior of a house. These can be corner mounted or ceiling mounted and are very reliable in their operation.

Dual technology movement detector

This detector is designed to be installed in more hostile environments. They combine passive infra red and microwave technology to produce a very stable and reliable detector.

Internal sounder

This sounder is designed to give entry/exit tones and give a full alarm to an alarm activation.

External sounder and strobe unit

A self activating sounder and strobe light housed in a robust, tamper protected, polycarbonate housing. Usually sited on the front external elevation. It is sometimes advisable to put a dummy housing on the rear elevation.

Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC)

Intruder alarm systems can be linked into an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). In the event of an intruder alarm activation a digitised signal is sent to the ARC. They will then action the alarm signal that they have received by informing the police, key holders etc.

Intruder alarm systems can be linked into our ARC via the following technologies:

This system is considered by insurance companies as a high security way to ensure that the telephone line is always monitored and that the link between the Intruder Alarm System and the ARC is in place. If there is a break in this link, then the ARC will be alerted and they will contact the alarmed building and key holders.

RedCARE GSM & DualCom

These systems are considered by insurance companies as the highest security way to link to the ARC by using two technologies to signal an alarm activation. In simple terms; one way via a digital communicator down a telephone line, the second way via the Cellular GSM network. So in the event of one technology failing then the other will take its place to ensure that the alarm signal reaches the ARC.

Digital Communicator

This is a way of linking the intruder alarm system to ARC via a digital communicator. This is a comparatively low cost way to send an alarm signal but depends on the telephone line always being operational.

Career Opportunities!

As a result of the on going expansion of Chevron Alarms we are always looking for new members of staff.

We pride ourselves on our ability to design and install the larger security systems with our own manufactured high quality finishes.
